there is a very dangerous trend on tumblr around the topic of race issues. Many, myself included find terrible and insulting images that often denigrate and anger people of color. these OP’s of these images are overwhelmingly white. many racist, all however are stupid and ignorant. the gut reaction is to insult and call out the racist act and further separate ourselves from this obtuse insensitivities. if you are anything like me tumblr is a place of refuge from daily triviality and we don’t want to see this bullshit. at the same time calling out ALL white people is dangerous. simply because it isn’t true. I grew up around white people and white 98% of them are shitty insensitive possibly racist assheads, 2% of them are alright. that may be an exaggeration however we all know at least ONE white person that we feel really are trying to see it from our perspective. these allies are those we need to associate with to teach and explain what racism is. it is them upon which we have to rely to check other whites on their racism because as shitty as it is white supremacy has bestowed upon them white privilege. unless you want to denigrate yourselves to the point of skin bleaching; identify, associate, befriend and educate those the W’s among us. itl be a slow as fuck process but white folks egos are as fragile as a really fragile things and they freak out way too easily to get into an argument with. we can’t move toward if we keep finding wedges to separate ourselves. as fucked up as this situation is in the US and worldwide more than anything we need allies to educate the rest of white folk. we NEED unity, they need education. this has been a PSA
